I am from living in fear of hearing a knock at the door and getting my family separated.
I am from parents who work from sunrise to sunset;
I am from working don’t get you through the week.
I am from parents who grew up with nothing but work hard to give me everything.
I am from leaving family behind for a better future.
I am from living in fear.
I am from being judged by my skin color;
I am from learning to survive without seeing my family for years.
I am from the struggles for freedom;
I am from a dad who works seven days of the week.
I am in fear of the call and not seeing my parents again.
I am the freedom of my parents;
I am the justice they deserve.
I am the future!
I am the immigrant’s child.
